Really? Seriously?

I wish I could present a screen grab of this particular thing-a-ma-bob, but my technical shortcomings prevent it. So...

American Apparel is no longer using any logos on their banner ads on FaceBook. Interesting. Instead, they're relying on a bit of soft porn poses and a directional. Which, on me any way, worked pretty well. Because I'm a perv at heart? Because I'm immune to most advertising? Who knows.

In any event, I find it fascinating. Much in line with Robert Bourke's "Slouching Toward Gommorah" where he painstakingly outlines the markers of a declining civilization -- this tact feels like a prime example in the awareness war for more eyeballs.

Say, what're you selling? T&A folks, what more do you need?

i don't know, it makes sense to me. a brand is not defined by it's logo. i think brands are defined by what they make or what they do -- who they are -- and american apparel is a niche brand (with a very niche look)... if people don't get it or know who they are, fuck-em. they probably aren't american apparel customers anyway.

you call it soft porn, i call it a point of differentiation and a level of honesty. American apparel doesn't make clothing for mormons... they are a club-style, skinny girl brand... the kind of girl who is more sexually liberated. this is why you won't find one of their stores in boise idaho!
